Bonne Vie Brasserie & Bar, a new European-influenced all-day restaurant and bar, opened Wednesday at the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego.

Open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the hotel’s lobby, Bonne Vie is the latest culinary concept from Westgate’s longtime Executive Chef Fabrice Hardel. Raised in Bayeux, France, Hardel’s 30-year cooking career has included positions at restaurants in France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and the U.S. He has led the Westgate’s culinary team since 2001.

The menu at Bonne Vie features classic French dishes reinterpreted through an American lens. Some of the signature French classics are Burgundy escargot, French onion soup and Icelandic cod meunière. Some American dishes are the fried chicken sandwich and braised short rib.

The restaurant serves breakfast from 6:30-10:30 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Happy hour specials are available from 2 to 5 p.m. The Westgate Hotel is at 1055 Second Ave., downtown. Visit: westgatehotel.com/dining/bonne–vie
