Last weekend Eataly hosted their annual Septemberfest event. Tickets were $119 for the 7:30pm entry, or $129 for the 7:00pm entry. I had a 7:30 ticket and there was plenty of food left by the time the event ended at 11pm, so paying for an extra 30 min isn’t really necessary imo. Food included pizzas, pastas, salumi, salads, baked goods, and carving stations and various sweets, tiramisu, and gelato. Booze was plentiful as well, there were many Italian wines and beers, as well as cocktails, negronis, and aperol spritzes. Can’t forget the endless shots of Malort, this is Chicago after all.

There seemed to be lines everywhere when I first entered but those soon died down. By 8:30 or so you could go up to nearly any station and grab what you wanted. Favorite bites of the night included the roast pork loin with salsa verde, polpette, and Neapolitan pizzas. Least favorite bite was unfortunately the Wagyu carving station. It was later in the evening when we found it, so by then the beef had become overcooked and dry, in addition to being slightly under seasoned. Many of the foods suffered that same fate late in the evening and had become dried out/cold but I’m glad there was plenty of food to last the evening. The cocktails were great, too, particularly the cranberry mule from Koval.

Overall I was happy with my first Septemberfest experience and felt I got my money’s worth. Plenty of variety and the quantity of food and drink far exceeded my expectations. Curious to hear reviews from anyone else who attended!
