Italy’s ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, opened the second edition of the “Italian Wine Night” at Palilulska Pijaca in Belgrade, as part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. The initiative, realized in collaboration with the Belgrade Ice Office, offered the Serbian public the opportunity to discover and taste a selection of wines from some of the most representative Italian wineries, thanks to the participation of local importers and distributors.
The event confirmed the growing interest in Italian wine in Serbia, where consumption and appreciation for tricolor labels continue to show a positive trend.
“In a shrinking market, Italy stands out as the only major supplier to grow, increasing in the last year by 12.57 percent the value of Italian wine exports to Serbia. Particularly significant is the strong dynamics of Italian bubbles, which record an increase in exports of more than 34 percent, confirming the growing interest of Serbian consumers in quality Italian labels,” said the director of the Ice office in Belgrade, Antonio Ventresca.
“In the period January-September this year,” said Ambassador Gori, “we exported wine to the Serbian market for a value of 5.65 million euros and represent as Italy 21.39% of all imports of the sector in the domestic market. We now aim to further strengthen our presence in Serbia also thanks to the participation of about 70 Italian operators in the upcoming fair Wine Vision by Open Balkan in Belgrade.”
