Long time charcoal scholar looking to break into the world of pellet grills and smoking. I have stumbled across this GMG pellet grill on Facebook marketplace. When I go take a look at it what should I pay attention to? What are red flags or problems I should be wary of? Thanks for the wisdom!

    That’s an older 110v GMG.

They were a little better than traeger and others at the time, while using very similar components.

The main thing to look at would be how well it has been maintained. How clean is it inside and out?

The third photo gives me some concern that the drip tray isn’t installed correctly.

I would absolutely not pay more than $100.

Had a newer version of that for a couple years. Absolutely loved it until randomly it stopped being able to hold a constant temp. On start up it would ramp up to 300+, then back down to ~120 and keep doing that.

Have them turn it on and watch it ramp to an accurate target temp which I believe should be 150

looks in poor shape.. make sure it works. take the grease tray out and fire diverter box. look for rust in there. old ash and sitting outside soaks up moisture bam.. rusts. rust in the cooking area means the electronics probably aren’t too long for the world.

Turn it on. fan should run. auger should spin. lastly. price.. I wouldn’t much for that.. lot of options out there.

I’m about to retire one just like it.. look inside at the grease gutter on the right side of the drip tray. Mine is rusted out and now all the grease runs down inside into the ash in the belly.
