Morrisons shoppers could get an extra £20 towards their Christmas food this year – but they need to act fast. Morrisons More Card customers can benefit from the new ‘Merry More Points’ scheme, which will give people the chance to earn £20 worth of More Points in the run-up to the big day.

According to the supermarket, all you need to do is “spend £50 or more in four out of five calendar weeks before Sunday, December 14”, which means time is already ticking, and you will “receive £20 worth of More Points”. It does not matter what kind of shop you do, “as long as they spend £50 or more in total during the week, they will be able to take advantage of the ‘Merry More Points’ offer throughout the festive season”, Morrisons confirmed.

It added: “The scheme is open to every More Card customer, whether they use a physical card or the Morrisons More App, meaning millions of customers are able to receive £20 worth of More Points to spend at Christmas.”

To be eligible for the offer, digital cardholders need to activate Merry More Points in the app or scan the activation coupon on your receipt to ensure your shop is counted towards the reward scheme. If you use a physical More Card, you would have had to scan your activation coupon before Sunday, November 9, to participate.

The retailer also revealed: “Customers will be able to unlock a Christmas surprise each week in December that they shop with Morrisons. The surprises include More Points, free festive treats, money off coupons and even the chance to win their entire Christmas shop.

“As well as the Merry More Points bonus, customers can continue to earn five More Points for every item they buy. More Card holders will receive a Morrisons ‘Fiver’ for every 5,000 points they collect and these are redeemable in-store or online. Customers can also choose to donate their More Card Points to Marie Curie, supporting families across the UK this Christmas.”

Gareth Lloyd, Director of Loyalty at Morrisons, said: “We know Christmas can be an expensive time for many families, so we wanted to give our loyal customers a little extra help in the run-up to the big day. By making it easier to earn More Points, our Merry More Points scheme rewards customers simply for doing their regular shop. Whether they’re topping up the fridge, buying festive treats, or picking up last-minute gifts, every shop at Morrisons brings them closer to a well-earned Christmas bonus.”

The news comes as Morrisons declared “a new festive tradition” with the launch of National Mince Pie Day on Saturday, November 22. It said 50,000 Morrisons Rich & Fruity mince pies would be given away for free across selected stores this Saturday. There will be gluten-free options available and customers just need to collect their baked treat from their local Morrisons store.

Mark Richmond, head chef at Morrisons, added: “We wanted to give the nation a reason to smile and celebrate one of our most-loved festive bakes and we’ve done just that by launching National Mince Pie Day and giving away 50,000 pies.

“Having hundreds of expert bakers working hard all year round to prepare millions of pies across the UK and a variety available for all taste buds, makes us best placed to celebrate the mince pie! National Mince Pie Day will help spread a little early Christmas cheer and make sure everyone can enjoy a taste of the season, on us!”
