The Italian Ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, opened the second edition of the Italian Wine Night at Palilulska Pijaca in Belgrade as part of Italian Cuisine Week in the World.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with the ICE Office in Belgrade, offered the Serbian public the opportunity to discover and taste a selection of wines from some of Italy’s most representative wineries, thanks to the participation of local importers and distributors. The event confirmed the growing interest in Italian wine in Serbia, where consumption and appreciation of Italian labels continue to show a positive trend.

“In a shrinking market, Italy stands out as the only major supplier to grow, increasing the value of Italian wine exports to Serbia by 12.57% in the last year. Particularly significant is the strong performance of Italian sparkling wines, which recorded an increase in exports of over 34%, confirming the growing interest of Serbian consumers in quality Italian labels,” said Antonio Ventresca, Director of the ICE Office in Belgrade.

“In the period January-September this year,” said Italian Ambassador to Serbia Luca Gori, “we exported wine to the Serbian market worth €5.65 million, with Italy accounting for 21.39% of all imports in this sector to the domestic market. We now aim to further strengthen our presence in Serbia, thanks in part to the participation of around 70 Italian operators at the upcoming Wine Vision by Open Balkan fair in Belgrade.”
