As Title,
Is there a way to buy Toro at Asian Supermarket? Usually Toro are bought at websites and they price it heavily on the expensive side. I’ve had successes with buying Hamachi at Hmart, but Toro is very hard to find. Usually they only have a pieces of tuna steak and the cut isn’t quality at all.

Sorry for not clarifying. When I mentioned buying at asian supermarket, I meant the fresh cut so that I can slice it at home, instead of the pre-made sashimi slices they display at the sushi area.
In my experience, you need to either look at a Japanese wholesale fish supplier (these are the people who sell to sushi restaurants) or a specialty fish store (a few Japanese fish stores or those that sell frozen saku blocks for several imported fish.)
Not impossible to find, but varies depending on your location. I don’t count on a chain like hmart for specialty fish. Fine for your salmon and hamachi…but toro or a fish like kinmedai (goldeneye sea bream) is not a common, easily sourced fish, so you need to see a specialty fishmonger.
Tokyo central tends to have it. Depends on your city. Any good Japanese grocery store will have it here and there
Look up local fish monger whole sale fish markets. You can also kindly ask your local sushi restaurants if you can buy some from them during their next shipment. They may charge you a little extra but it’s not a bad idea because they usually have access to premium quality fresh cut, especially if chef cuts the fish themselves even by the quarter loins. We had customers that would come into the sushi bar I worked and get whole eels and order other stuff like wakami salad or squids from us
Several tuna wholesalers who mainly supply restaurants also sell smaller quantities online to the general public.
Examples:
* **Tsukiji Maguro-ya Sandaime (築地まぐろ屋 三代目)** Sells *chūtoro* and *ōtoro* blocks through their online shop.
* **Hiei (樋栄)** also has an **online ordering (お取り寄せ)** section offering tuna saku blocks shipped to your home.
This can be the easiest way to get reliable quality if you don’t want to visit markets early. Good luck!
Japanese market
Usually you pick one out and exchange for money
Are you taking about a specific place called “Asian Supermarket,” or do you mean at _an_ Asian supermarket (nonspecific)?
Look for a local fish market. Near me, Yuzuki Fish Market sells saku blocks.
Hmart has fatty tuna blocks (chutoro) usually by the frozen fish section if you wanna try that out but I’d recommend going to a Japanese store like Mitsuwa and Tokyo Central if you are looking for in SJ or even Suruki Supermarket
in San Mateo is pretty good.
