Is there anything better than spending a breezy Sunday afternoon with a glass of wine in one hand and a plate of authentic pasta in the other? We didn’t think so.
Get your calendars out, Yangonites! The Italian Food Court is officially coming back, and it’s shaping up to be the culinary highlight of November. For one day only, the Embassy of Italy in Golden Valley is throwing open its gates to the public, inviting us all into their beautiful garden for a celebration of la dolce vita.
Mark the date: Sunday, November 30th, 2025. This isn’t just a food fair; it’s the grand finale of the 10th Italian Cuisine Week in the World, and trust us—you won’t want to miss this vibe.
A Roman Holiday in Golden Valley
From 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Embassy grounds will transform into a bustling piazza. Picture this: the sun setting over Golden Valley, the smell of fresh basil and tomatoes in the air, and a crowd of food lovers buzzing with excitement.
Thanks to an enthusiastic lineup of partner restaurants and importers, you can expect a full array of Italian delicacies. We’re talking artisanal cheeses, cured meats, authentic pizzas, and, of course, plenty of wine and aperitivos to wash it all down. It’s the perfect excuse to gather the family or grab a group of friends for an al fresco dinner.
Be the Judge: The Gelato Face-Off 🍦
Here is where things get sweet—and competitive. The event will host the 2nd Non-professional Italian Gelato Competition in Myanmar.
But here’s the twist: You are the judge.
Between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM, you can taste the creations of aspiring gelato makers and cast your vote for your favorite flavor. It’s a tough job, but someone has to sample all that creamy goodness to help crown this year’s winner!
Michelin Magic: A Culinary Masterclass
Foodies, pay attention because this is a big deal. This year’s Food Court features a heavyweight cooking demonstration that brings world-class prestige to Yangon.
From 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, catch Chef Allen Huynh in action. He is the Head Chef of Osteria Francescana by Massimo Bottura—yes, that Massimo Bottura (whose restaurant holds 3 Michelin stars and has been named the Best Restaurant in the World twice).
Chef Allen, alongside Chef Christian, Chef Federico, and Chef Vanessa, will present a demo titled: “Italianità and Burmese ingredients: creativity and sustainability with basic techniques and ingenuity.” Seeing how they blend high-end Italian techniques with our local Burmese produce is going to be nothing short of inspiring.
Eat Good, Do Good
The best part? Entry is completely free, and no reservation is needed. Just show up with an empty stomach and a full wallet, because a portion of the sales will be donated to charity. Your Sunday feast will support organizations dedicated to caring for children and families affected by HIV.
So, come for the pasta, stay for the gelato, and leave with that warm, fuzzy feeling of having supported a great cause.
