The Greek wine group Kir-Yianni, owned by the Boutaris family, has now fully taken over the Domaine Sigalas winery in Santorini. It acquires the previous majority stake from a company of shipowner Thanassis Martinos. The connection between the two companies dates back to 2009 when Kir-Yianni purchased 40 percent of the shares. Since 2020, Kir-Yianni has been responsible for managing the winery and has implemented extensive investments. The Domaine Sigalas currently manages 45 hectares of vineyards in northern Santorini and focuses on innovative, sustainable cultivation methods. It primarily produces white wines from the Assyrtiko variety.

With the takeover, the Boutaris family now owns wineries in three Greek wine regions: Naoussa, Amyndeon, and Santorini. This strengthens the company’s position in the international wine market and focuses on growth, indigenous grape varieties, and high quality standards.

Kir-Yianni expects an annual turnover of over 20 million euros in the future. A focus remains on wine tourism: in 2024, more than 35,000 guests visited the locations in Naoussa, Amyndeon, and Santorini.
