Better than Wake & Late but still underwhelming.
There’s been a TON of hype around Sobuneh. I finally tried it and was left with no outlook on a return.
Oh, and it’s also a $21 burrito that takes 30 minutes outside of rush hour.
I ordered the Sig which has eggs, chorizo, avocado, tots, black beans, and a side of sauce and pickled onions.
The burrito is good but not great. It’s a decent size, tots are crispy, chorizo is chorizo-y, and eggs are fluffy.
The cilantro aioli is fine, nothing crazy.
The crazy part is that when you order at the kiosk inside their food hall place, they add mysterious “fees” that aren’t even broken down on the receipt or mentioned at ordering. If you order it online directly through them, there are no fees and it’s just the tax. If I had known that, I would’ve just ordered online. $2 is a water drop but I think it’s pretty scummy to add that fee to a kiosk without even a real cashier or the workers themselves serving you.
This won’t make my top 5 burritos in LA
