I think this is the easiest way to get a great crust on my beef. Has Anyone Used This Before?

Any high smoke point oil will get you a great crust. Nothing wrong with using bacon grease. Nothing particularly special about it, either, other than being made up of more saturated fats vs something like canola.

People are making money selling bacon grease? I’ve been living my life wrong!

No, but I find dry-brining gives me the best crust. Simply leave it on a rack in the refrigerator for 24 hours with some kosher salt on it. The salt pulls the surface water out and still leaves your steak juicy. It sounds weird, just try it.

Buying a beautiful steak like that and then covering it with bacon grease is sacrilege….. Just ask for some beef fat from your butcher and render that or use butter.

The easiest way to form a crust on a thin steak is by spreading some vegetable oil before throwing it on the grill

There is duck fat in a jar now. Its better than this for a flavorful cut of beef like this. Also, there is enough fat in that tomahawk for you to just use some by healthy olive oil instead. Especially since you are smothering it in foil.

i use that when i make homefries

I’ve purchased this. I wasn’t a fan. It tasted… Synthetic, strongly of artificial seasoning/smoke/preservatives. (Later, I found out this is produced when they make pre-cooked bacon. These are the drippings from the microwave).
uh-ohkay
I love bacon up.

I use it quite a bit. I also save grease from frying bacon, but I always want more. This is super clean and gives the best flavor!
