Starting her on celery, then we’ll graduate to chives.

That grip looks a wee bit iffy, maybe just the angle though. Good good chef

  2. Looks fun but kinda sketchy. We got a thing called a kitchen climber for our little dude it’s like self contained box thing to stand on so he can help me cook.

  3. shes doing a better job than some of the people who worked for me (when they started).

  4. Cheffinitup254

Quite the small jump…That’s like going from making toast to making croissants.

  5. TriceratopsHunter

What age did you start her in the kitchen? Our 3.5 yr old helps me make pancakes on weekends, but was considering getting her a kids kitchen knife set and knife safe gloves this Xmas to help me chop things.

“Having my kid cutting a couple of chives almost every day until this reddit says they’re perfect” here we go

  7. Maleficent_Page7685

Such a heart warming post. Now get to the chives chef!

  8. Unlucky_Meringue_631

Awwwwwww she looks very interested in doing a good job. 🥰

  9. Unlikely-Risk-5278

Did you already give her a degree in back pain?

  10. Helpful-Conference13

Atta girl! Teach her the claw grip with that left hand. She’s doing great, I just don’t want to see her get cut.

  11. SVAuspicious

The stool is good for angle and leverage. The mat is a good call for avoiding slipping. Grip looks okay for little hands.

I’m not impressed with “kid safe” knives. Get her a real knife. Something bigger.

    Lots of encouragement.

Give her time before carrots. They’re hard.

It doesn’t matter if she goes to culinary school or into professional cooking. Cooking is a life skill. A lawyer or a doctor who can cook is a force of nature.

  12. MissMortem

I did this with my mom as a child. Love to see it! RIP Momma.

  13. Which knives are you using?

My kid wants to help in the kitchen, but the kid knives we got suck assssss. Can’t cut an onion, much less celery.

  14. But as we all know, no one really graduates from chives 🤣

  15. cotton-candy-dreams

Love it, would love to see little boys also being brought up in the kitchen! Cooking is an important life skill for all genders.

  16. looks like my tall ass hunched over trying to work at a standard workbench

  17. Giovannis_Pikachu

FYI she should not be hunched over like that. Maybe a slightly shorter stool. This is bad for your back.

  18. TofuttiKlein-ein-ein

What a cutie patootie! Love her little apron!

  19. Logical-End-6856

It’s cute, but this setup is a disaster waiting to happen

  20. PomegranateRude8285

Starting her on those back problems early I see

  21. Abject-Compote8355

When I was commis I had a sous chef that used to punch me in the lower back to straighten up while at the cutting board. “Want to keep working when you’re 40???” Other than that, very good form chef, I see a bright future.

Please get her a single step stool. Or even those step exercises bench that have extra levels so it can go higher as she gets taller. She’s really straining her back here and being at the right height will make her knife skills better! Source: I’m a person with dwarfism who worked in professional kitchens for 8 years.

  24. What kind of beginner knife does anyone recommend for a 3 year old?

  25. WolfghengisKhan

Love this so much! I bought my boy a set of those serated plastic knives a couple years ago when he was 3 and now he gets upset if I start cooking dinner without him.

  26. Nevermore71412

    Still too big. Try again.

Or at least that’s what my chef would have said regardless if I did it right on my first attempt. Can’t let them get too cocky.

  27. NeonAndCigarettes

Her back is going to be shot before she ever clocks in lol.

  28. fsantos0213

Pretty soon she’ll be washing lettuce. Soon I’ll be on fries; then the grill. In a year or two, she’ll make assistant manager, and that’s when the big bucks start rolling in. (Adapted to fit this scenario)

  29. scorpio_fun

Hey this is so cool! I have a little chef at home too and am wondering are those the knives that are supposed to not cut skin? I would love to upgrade her tools but I have bad anxiety these might help me feel better. Thanks!!

  30. RIF_Internet_Goon

Well she has alot of good examples as of recently on how chives look when they are well chopped.

  31. CompetitionDecent986

My little chef cut the celery, potatoes, and mushrooms today too, I just forgot to take a picture of her handiwork. My other little chef mashed the yams and snapped green beans. While, the third little chef kept stealing veggies to eat raw.

  32. PeaceABC123

She is so serious about doing a good job! Love that!

  33. BeautifulIntrepid373

Oh this is the best! See you tomorrow Chef 💚
