McDonald’s new Christmas menu items became available for customers today, and I tried them. One thing stood out as the star of the show. Several new items appear on the menu from today (Wednesday, November 26), as well as a special treat for those who buy certain meals. What customers might be most excited about is the new The Grinch Meal, which comes with the choice of a Big Mac, 9 Chicken McNuggets or a McPlant, paired with the brand new Grinched McShaker Fries. These fries come with a separate shaker bag and a sachet of pickle salt, which you combine and shake for McDonald’s fries with a difference.
Plus, these meals come with a pair of special edition Mismatched Grinch x McDonald’s Socks. Also making its festive debut this year is the Cheesy Chicken Stack burger. Plus, fans will be delighted to see the return of a festive McDonald’s favourite, the Cheese Melt Dippers. In terms of sweet treats, fans get brand new additions to the McDonald’s festive menu, including the Frozen Grinch Lemonade, a Coconut Latte, a Coconut Hot Chocolate, The Mischief McFlurry, the Chocolate Brownie McFlurry and The Grumble Pie.
I got the Grinch Meal, which included a Big Mac, some Cheese Melt Dippers, the Frozen Grinch Lemonade, the Grumble Pie, and the Mischief McFlurry. Before I reveal my highlight, let’s break down how everything was.
The Grinch Meal was an interesting twist on a typical Big Mac meal from McDonald’s. Shaking the fries in this special pickle-flavoured salt is certainly a novelty, and the flavour was pretty nice. However, be sure to shake it well.
I had to shake the fries a second time, as some were overpowered by the salt and quite powdery as a result. But they were much better when I gave them a second, stronger shake. On the side, the Cheese Melt Dippers were a nice addition.
I might have liked them to be a bit more melted on the inside, but it’s a pretty decent dish for the price you pay.
My drink, the Frozen Grinch Lemonade, would place near the top of my list if I were to rank these items from my favourite to least favourite. The melon-flavoured frozen drink was perfectly sweet and tangy, and tasted just as good as it looked.
However, the true star of the show was one of the desserts I got to try. In fact, both desserts were nice, but one really blew me away, and I would be happy to order it again.
The Grumble Pie really took me by surprise. Its green exterior didn’t lead me to believe that it would be enjoyable. But when I bit into it, I couldn’t believe how good it was.
First of all, the outer casing is deliciously crispy, a perfect compliment to the soft filling inside. It is filled with apple, crumble and custard, which all taste rich and flavourful.
Chowing down on this dessert was a real treat. As soon as I took my first bite, I knew this was my winner out of everything I had tried this evening.
The Mischief McFlurry was also a lovely treat, but for me, it comes nowhere near the Grumble Pie. If I were to pick another two items for my top three out of everything, it would be the Frozen Grinch Lemonade and the Grinched McShaker Fries. Plus, getting a pair of socks with my meal was a lovely touch.
