This is how you make super easy chicken shawarma at home— no spigot needed.

Step 1: Prep & Cook the Chicken
Add boneless, skinless chicken thighs to a bowl, cover with buttermilk, and add grated garlic, salt, pepper, chicken shawarma spice, and the zest & juice of a lemon. Mix well, cover, and let the chicken marinade in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

Add the chicken to a wire rack and air fry or bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature is 165º or higher.

Step 2: Make the Sauce
Create a simple garlic sauce by adding garlic cloves, lemon juice, a little corn starch, mayo, and salt to a food processor and blending until smooth.

Step 3: Make the Pickles
Boil equal parts salted water and white vinegar. Cut cucumbers into pieces or slices and add them to a jar with some dried chilis, garlic, and dill.

Once the water is boiling, pour it into the jar, add the lid, and flip it over to do a quick pickling. If you want, you can even make these the day before for a stronger flavor.

Step 4: Assemble & Grill
Spread a layer of garlic sauce onto fresh pita. Thinly slice the chicken thighs and add them to the pita along with a few French fries (optional) and the quick pickles.

Tightly wrap the pita and add it to a pan or griddle. Gently press them down until crispy, flip, and repeat the process on the other side.

If you’ve been craving shawarma, but you don’t have any Mediterranean spots near you, you definitely need to try this recipe.

This is how you make super easy chicken shawarm at home. No spot needed. Take it from me as a professional chef and I’m Lebanese. I know a thing or two about shawarmas. Boneless, skinless chicken thighs, buttermilk, couple cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, chicken chawarma spice, a decent one from a store works just fine. Zest of a whole lemon. Juice of a lemon. This has been in the fridge for about 2 hours. Straight into the air fryer. 25 to 30 minutes. It’s time to make garlic sauce. We made the garlic sauce and pickled the pickles. And the chicken is almost done. We’re going to assemble the sandwiches. Little bit of French fries right at the bottom. Just like that. Press them all right here. Then we’re just going to have some lunch. Now it’s time to eat. M Christmas in July. [Music] Delicious.

  1. I live about 65 miles north of you, looking for an excuse to come to the city just to try you guys!

  2. A guy in a run down sandwich shop with some third world Mexicans calls himself a chef 😂

These shops in Greece or Italy would be laughable. I’m pretty sure back in Lebanon they are laughing too.

Chef is someone who has done 4-5 years of college and knows his stuff. Only in America anyone can call himself chef. You are a sandwich maker dude

Some other guy friend of mine calls himself CEO at his restaurant that he owes money to 1000 people. I mean seriously people get a grip.

  3. Don’t worry about air fry it , fry it in beef tallow, or lamb fat if it’s available
    Thank me later
