The “most selective” food guide across the globe has been unveiled.

Scotland’s best restaurants for 2026 have been named as part of a global list. A total of 10 eateries across the country were singled out.
On Wednesday, November 26, La Liste unveiled its annual winners of the 1,000 best restaurants in the world. The 10 Scottish restaurants featured on the “world’s most selective” guide are Cail Bruich, Inver, Edinbane Lodge, The Glenturret Lalique, Andrew Fairlie, The Peat Inn, Haar, The Kitchin, Number One at The Balmoral, and Martin Wishart.
Cail Bruich is located in Glasgow, on the city’s Great Western Road. It specialises in high-end seasonal and locally sourced food, with its dishes including Scrabster turbot, hand-dived Orkney scallop, and Stobo Estate sika deer.
Elsewhere, The Kitchin, Number One at The Balmoral, and Martin Wishart are all situated in Edinburgh. The Kitchin and Martin Wishart are located in the Scottish capital’s trendy Leith neighbourhood, while Number One at The Balmoral is found on the iconic Princes Street.
The Kitchin is a Michelin-starred contemporary restaurant that is situated in a trendy converted whisky warehouse. Its chefs make use of French techniques on Scottish produce, with both tasting and à la carte menus available.
Number One at The Balmoral is a four AA Rosette restaurant housed within the world-renowned Balmoral Hotel. Specialising in modern Scottish cuisine, guests can enjoy dishes such as Loch Duart salmon, Ullapool brown crab, and Edgefield beef.

Martin Wishart is known for its elegant French cuisine that makes use seasonal Scottish produce. The Michelin-starred eatery serves up ravioli of partridge, roast loin of Borders roe deer, roasted Orkney scallop, and more.
Elsewhere, Andrew Fairlie is the longest standing two Michelin-starred restaurant in Scotland. Situated in the iconic Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder, it is known for dishes including home smoked Scottish lobster, herb crusted loin of lamb, and fillet of halibut.
Also holding two Michelin stars is The Glenturret Lalique in Crieff, which is located within the historic Glenturret Distillery. Drawing inspiration from the distillery and Scotland’s landscapes, it serves up a curated menu that changes with the seasons.
Over in St Andrews, Haar is a relaxed fine dining restaurant with rooms that has been awarded three AA Rosettes and has been included in the Michelin Guide. It offers both a tasting and à la carte menu that showcase locally sourced seafood and fresh produce.
Inver is a small and characterful restaurant with rooms in the coastal hamlet of Cairndow. Featuring both tasting and à la carte menus, it serves up dishes like Crowdie dumplings, roast pollack, and watercress soup.
The Peat Inn in Cupar offers luxury Michelin-starred dining in a relaxed and stylish setting. Customers can expect dishes such as roast octopus, slow roast pork cheek, North Sea cod, and Scotch beef.

The final Scottish restaurant to be named on La Liste’s global roundup is Edinbane Lodge on the Isle of Skye. Set within a historic 16th century hunting lodge, the restaurant celebrates the food of the island in warm and cosy surroundings.
