I have a mate living out in CDMX who is heading back here to the UK for Christmas.
She's happy to ferry me over some dried chillies but before I put a generic order in, I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any reccomendations of specific markets/vendors/shops she should hit up?
Any particularly interesting or unusual varieties that might be available, word of mouth kinda thing? Any reccs beyond the everyday any market ancho, chipotle etc?

The ones in your picture are called Cascabel. You can start with those. Here are some more, on the right. I would also suggest Guajillo, Morita and Arbol. As far as the place pretty much anywhere in CDMX, supermarkets, mercados etc.
