My boyfriend and I popped into New World Deli for lunch yesterday. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and added pickled jalapeños. Boyfriend ordered a meatball sub. We shared an order of fries (not pictured). Everything was delicious. I did sample the meatball sub too. The bread is the star of the sandwich for me. It’s perfectly crisp and flaky on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.

Did you stay past 6:30? I went there on a saturday off a coworker’s recommendation for their Reuben, stayed by complete happenstance past 6:30 and they had some wonderful live music from a local band. He had no idea they had live music. It was a great experience and the regulars were clearly waiting for it, their schedule is up on the website.

Oh, and I don’t know about their subs but they get their rye bread from Abby Jane iirc. I was enamored so I had to know whether they sold it, and they did say I can request a few loaves and they’ll pick them up and sell them to me, so that’s available if you don’t want to drive 45 minutes for bread.

Happy to hear that because the picture makes it look like terrible soft on soft white roll.

Their meatball sub and eggplant parm are very flavorless. But their Turkey club and deli style fries are great.

Maybe I went on an off day, but I had their philly cheese a few years ago, and I thought it was among the most mediocre sandwiches I ever had, and the worst philly.

I’ve had no desire to return. There are so many other great sandwiches in town.

I still won’t go there after they tried to get Vino Vino closed way back when

I used to live a few blocks away. New World is great and the staff was always very nice. I’m also happy that they still have live music in a time where that seems to be a shrinking thing around town.

their new jersey sloppy joes are incredible. Basically picture a double decker turkey on rye with coleslaw. It’s delicious!

New World Deli is one of my all time favorites. I have NEVER had a bad meal there. Been going there for decades. Wish I lived closer!

Is it just me or do those sandwiches look tiny

  10. All of their sandwiches are so good! I almost always get the reuben, though.
