This isn’t a non stick pan. And it’s not the proper type of pan for making an omelette

  2. ludicrouspeed

Gotta pre heat the pan at a medium heat then add butter.

    Stainless steel is not nonstick

What temp/setting was it set to? Did you preheat or add any attempts to keep it from sticking? Such as adding any oil or fat at anytime before this happened?

  4. VanBeelergberg

Well your first mistake was thinking a steel pot is a nonstick pan.

  5. Indicted4Rabies

That doesn’t even look like egg lol

If you’re going to use a pan that is ***not non-stick*** you’re going to need perfect technique; stainless steel is not for amateurs.

  7. May I suggest some basic cooking videos by Gordon Ramsey (on Youtube) they are very good for beginners. He is much nicer than on Kitchen Nightmares in his Basic Cookery Course.

Or Tasty 101 cooking for beginners on Youtube

It took me a while to learn how to cook eggs in a stainless. You’ll get there.

Jus get a good cast iron and learn to use it

Get an actual non-stick pan, and use cooking spray or butter on that as well.

That is a saucepan. It’s a small POT meant for small boils, like sauces, for example. Don’t fry things in it.

You’re needing a FRYING PAN. Regardless of the size of your omelette, you’re going to want to still use a frying pan.

    Also, grease the pan.

    “But it’s nonstick”

You DON’T know what that means.

yikes 😬 give that pan a good soak before trying to clean that thing

Cooking is chemistry. This seems like too much heat, too fast.

An omelette not even a mother could pretend to love.

  15. eazyworldpeace

lol who told you that’s a nonstick pan

  16. Lepke2011

Um, that’s not a non-stick pan. And even if it was, you still want a bit of some type of fat, like butter or oil, so there’s something between the surface and whatever you’re cooking.

How is a steel pot even remotely close to a frying pan let alone a non-stick frying pan?

  18. and_the_wully_wully

Why does the bubbly part look like a pancake? What’s in your omelet?

  19. Helarina1

That looks like liquid biscuits in a stainless pot. TF are you talking about omelette and nonstick.

Okay, I know others are calling you out about the non-stickness of your cooking vessel, I’d like to address the flimsy incorrect spatula. Today actually; I learned that a lot of foods were sticking to my non stick pan, because the silicone spatula I use is terrible at scraping the pan. I switched to a stiff plastic one and hey, suddenly my eggs aren’t sticking…it was a weird epiphany. I like the silicone spatula, but it sucks for that pan.

You shouldn’t be discouraged. Omelettes are a great way to learn to cook and a lot of it is just mastering heat control and if in doubt, low and slow. Also that looks like cheese melted in there with mushrooms. I bet it was still really good.

u/[Own_Entertainment697](https://www.reddit.com/user/Own_Entertainment697/) posted a great video on how to cook it.

I don’t believe that this is egg-based. This must be mashed potatoes.

I love stainless steel but it definitely needs practice! If you need to get the mess off you can fill it with water, add one (ONE!!!) drop of dish soap, bring it up to almost boiling then turn the heat off and put the lid on and let it soak until cool and most if not all of it will come off. You can remove what’s left with a paste made with baking soda and water on a damp cloth. I’ve been using stainless steel exclusively for almost a year now and I am only just perfecting it, especially with eggs. I still can’t do potatoes!

I guess some people really shouldn’t cook. 😳

Pan was too hot. Try using butter. Heat pan, add butter then pour in eggs. Push eggs around a bit and before setting all the way turn off pan and flip one side of eggs over
