Tonight was my second visit to Markette in Chelsea. It is Carribean-European mixed cuisine and both visits were exceptional. For my first visit I had the rock shrimp linguine, its sauce infused with scotch bonnet. It was semi-spicy and delicious, an interesting twist to linguine. I also had the affogato for dessert. Let me flash forward to today. The braised oxtail gratin is something out this planet. The spices and flavors that go into that dish with the polenta throughout is magical. I am Trinidadian myself and I know authentic stewed oxtail — that was amazing, and a very miraculous twist. The drinks were phenomenal, had the Hay Barbie (wow that drink was amazing) and the awesome bartender made me a custom drink before I left. 10/10 – they have a great cocktail bar, The Argyle, underneath.
