  1. Ok. I just got that thing too. Someone told me that the counterweight is supposed to be loose and not spin with the axle. Not sure if that’s the case or not, but thought it’s share.

    I did something very similar, I put a cast iron rectangular pan below it to keep the direct heat a little lower and when it was about 30 min from done I threw in potatoes with a very heavy dose of duck fat into one end of the pan and Brussels in the other. It was great.
