As part of the Italian Cuisine Week initiatives in Kenya, the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Kenya Tourist Board (Ktb), the Kenyan government’s tourism promotion body, organized two “show cooking” events in Nairobi, set up by the Italian Institute of Culture in Nairobi and the Ice agency, with the well-known cooking editorial brand Giallo Zafferano.

The first was held Friday evening inside Nairobi National Park, an iconic wildlife reserve, the only one within a world capital, with tastings of Italian food and wine for those in attendance, including Kenyan politicians, chefs and students from Nairobi’s hotel institute, Utalii College, as well as some of Kenya’s leading influencers and media personalities.

After the performance by Giallo Zafferano chef and actress Lulu Gargari, in the setting of the savannah with the Nairobi skyline in the background, the Italian ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, who remarked on the uniqueness of presenting Italian cuisine in a setting never before used for such an event, and Ktb marketing director Lorna Nyaga spoke.

The second cooking show was staged Saturday morning at the Organic Farmer’s Market in the Rosslyn neighborhood, a weekly market supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci) and implemented through the collaboration of Coldiretti’s “Campagna Amica” and Ciheam Bari.
