Went to Home Depot for something else and found this 899 Kamado Joe Konnected. Is the Konnected worth it? I have a Kamado Joe 1 that I have basically converted to a 2 over the years.

The digital plastic makes me cringe.
Probably nice though. I just like slamming on my vents with the pokey stick thing

The QC on their non-electronic stuff is iffy enough as it is. Add in their history of EOL’ing electronics and ending support, this is a solid hard pass for me.
If you want a pellet grill, get a Yoder or Traeger.
If you like the Kamado form factor, stick with a traditional Kamado. You can always add a fan controller and temp probes later if you want.

Get a fireboard drive 2 if you want temperature control. External from the grill don’t have to worry about it out in the weather all the time.

I love mine and paid full price for it a few weeks ago. FWIW, you can use this like a classic or as a connected. I also have an original classic and a mini joe. I love all 3.

Try to get them to knock it down further. Got mine two weeks ago BNIB for $750 at my local HD

Absolutely!!! You can always use it as a regular Kamado.

I purchased one 2 weeks ago on a similar HD deal, but the autolighter tripped every breaker I connected it to. YMMV, but I’m happier with my KJ classic 2.

Walk away. The rest of the fleet is awsome, the connected Joe is not.

I have had one for about 2 years. I love it. Doing a brisket at the moment
Is it a grill with fire? Yes of course. Worse how? For the third time, it has a smaller firebox, less ceramic, and more plastic. lol. wtf. How many other ways is there to say that. If the classic didn’t need as much ceramic as it has, I doubt they would just make it more heavy just for fun. And I guess I consider plastic exposed to the elements and heat, “worse” than ceramic, by a lot. The more shallow firebox can’t be better if you’re looking for longer cooks or if you want to use after market baskets etc. So again, no, you’re not left with a classic when it fails.

Classic 2 and a meater probe is hard to beat. They are incredibly easy to get the hang of
