This Essex restaurant comes highly recommended by a Great British Bake Off star. Gusto, a family-run Italian restaurant in Gidea Park, opened its doors in March 2024 and quickly made a significant impact on the local community.
The restaurant takes pride in preparing all of its meals fresh each day. The proprietors told EssexLive that they cook all their food “from the heart”, and are even planning to launch a new menu soon featuring some exciting new dishes.
Andy Ryan, who rose to fame on this year’s 15th series of Great British Bake Off and resides in Gidea Park, spoke very highly of the establishment. He said: “Their food is brilliant, and doesn’t break the bank either.”
Andy further added: “Their menu is also awesome – you know when you go in some restaurants and their menu is massive, like a bible? Gusto has great dishes but a reasonably sized menu, too!”.
And it’s not just celebrities who are fans of Gusto. SikhPilot reviewed the restaurant, stating: “What exceptional food and customer service. A must if you appreciate good honest Italian cuisine.”

The proprietors are thrilled with how the venture has flourished since launching. They told EssexLive: “We have such amazing customers that just keep coming back.
“All we want to do is share the love for Italian cuisine! The restaurant is going so well – I honestly wake up every day happy because I know I get to go to work!”.
