We’re all stuffed from an eventful Thanksgiving and the leftovers that come with it. But, you’ve always got to save room for pie, right? I am so glad I did, because I may have just had the best French Silk pie ever. Seriously, it was so good that I ran back to the table to take a picture of it before it was all gone, so I could share it with you.

What Makes This French Silk Pie So Good?

Everyone loved the pie, and the best part was that it was gluten-free, so everyone could try it. It’s a special treat (and you pay extra), but it was so worth it. The pie is supposed to be kept frozen before you serve it. (It softens up pretty quickly.) The flavors are rich and blend together perfectly. It’s one of those desserts that you feel emotions when you eat it. Even though the pie is cold, it warms you up inside. Does that make sense?

Betty’s World Famous Pies

The pie comes from none other than Betty’s Pies in Two Harbors, Minnesota. They are approaching their 70th year in business next year. Betty started the business back in 1956 and ran it until she retired in 1984. The business was sold, but still serves Betty’s recipes to this day. Besides pies, Betty’s also serves a full menu at their location just north of Two Harbors.

Gluten Free Crust

Gluten-free crust can be a challenge, but with more consumers demanding it, places like Betty’s have begun offering choices. We got both a gluten-free French Silk and a gluten-free pumpkin pie. Both of the crusts were pretty good, and honestly, when you have so much flavor like these pies had, the crust doesn’t matter so much anyway.

Some Pies Available To Ship Nationwide

These pies were from a fundraiser for one of our nieces’ school activities. Fortunately, you can visit them in person on Highway 61. They also started to ship pies nationwide in 2020. However, I can’t find the French Silk Pie on their order. Could it be that they have to keep them frozen? Now I’ll just have to find another fundraiser to buy it from!

They do have a ton of other pies, and let me tell you, they’re all good. Check them out at Betty’s Pies online.
