Located in North Texas, Zone 8.
Late to fruit these are supposed to be normal cayenne peppers. Started turning black about a month after fruiting, no dropping peppers yet but it has been cold on an off for the past couple weeks. I haven’t picked any yet to look inside.

Sun burn maybe?
Are they hard to the touch or soft and mushy ?
That’s completely normal happens to my peppers alot in zone 5. Supposedly this can sometimes happen if the plants are exposed to low night time temperatures, or can be an indication of low phosphorus. Your peppers look pretty healthy though. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. This happens to my jalapeños, and other green peppers all the time. It will not affect the quality in any way.
This commonly happens to peppers as they’re ripening. When it has both green and red pigments at the same time it can look black.
I’d expect them to turn red soon.

Happened to my late season Naga Salmon aswell. I researched and apparently is an anthocyanins production from the pepper in response to colder temperatures! Looks pretty damn cool. Taste and everything else is unaffected.
Turning purple * Anthocyanin suntan.
Normal. Will transition to red after
