Excelsior Springs (Nov. 27, 2025) – Hey y’all! I didn’t do a review last week since it was Thanksgiving, so I thought I’d take a minute to share what the holiday means to me and give you a rundown of our family feast.

First off, I’ve always believed that thankfulness shouldn’t be reserved for just one day a year. We should treat every day like it’s Thanksgiving, because there’s always something worth appreciating.

Now, onto the food. And yes, I completely forgot to take pictures because I was starving, but I’ll do my best to paint the picture for you.

We headed over to my mom and dad’s for a late lunch. For the main dishes, they served thick-cut ham and a couple of super tender rotisserie chickens. The sides were exactly what you want on Thanksgiving: mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, stuffing, and warm rolls. My wife brought her famous Jiffy corn casserole, which is always a crowd favorite.

And just when you thought we were done, the dessert lineup hit the table. My childhood favorite made an appearance. Angel food cake torn into pieces, layered with vanilla pudding, topped with cherry pie filling and Cool Whip. We also had key lime pie, a pecan pie dump cake, and my wife made a banana cream pie cheesecake ball that we scooped up with vanilla wafers. Every bit of it was delicious.

Needless to say, nobody left hungry, and I think it’s safe to say we were all deep in food comas by the end of the afternoon.
