Made this pasta. Was meant to be baked but my wife insisted her and the kids couldn't wait 10-15 minutes for it to be baked with some cheese on top 🙄 also didn't use Penne, decided to change to fusilli

For anyone interested this is roughly what the recipe was and it serves 8-10 people (we're a family of 8)

1 onion,
3 large cloves of garlic,
800g of tomatoes
Pinch of, bit of pepper, some herbs. However much you want.
1 red wine stock pot
squeeze of of tomato puree, probably about 3 or 4 tbs 500g of calabrese sausage meat
250g of mascapone
750g of pasta
Sprinkle of Grana Padano

Oh and don’t forget to save some of the pasta water to add back into the sauce/pasta if you decide to make it!

Maybe its just me but I really do not prefer baked pasta. To me it only serves to dry everything out, and often dry ingredients are added on top as well, making it doubly worse.

What is the value-add? Besides for something like a lasagna that still has undercooked components or whatever, never understood it.
