Drivers and warehouse workers at four Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits facilities voted to ratify their first contract. The 36 workers are represented by Teamsters Locals 745 and 577. The units are located in El Paso, Longview, Lubbock, and Amarillo.

“Teamsters are leading the way when it comes to organizing in Texas,” said Jeff Padellaro. He is director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference. “Members of Locals 745 and 577 should be proud of the strong contract they secured,” he said.

The new contract includes higher wages and Teamsters health care. It also includes pension benefits. Workers will receive more paid leave. Strong union protections are also provided.

“This agreement reflects hard work and solidarity,” said Rod Cuevas, president of Local 745. He said the locals worked together to secure a strong deal. The goal is to build on future contracts.

“When Teamsters work together, they get things done,” said Alfonso C. Brito. He is president of Local 577. “Our members should be proud of the contract they won,” he said.

The company agreed to accrete these units into the Fort Worth contract. The move strengthens the bargaining power of the union.
