I brought my padron pepper plants in for the winter, stripped them back and put them by the back door. I didn't expect them to immediately start growing new leaves!
They are getting sunlight and may be too warm.
Is that likely to be the issue? Should I put them out of direct sunlight?
I want to put them to sleep so they come back for a bumper crop in the spring! Any advice welcome!!

They look fine. I usually just bring mine in like houseplants.
They should be getting no more than four hours of indirect sunlight. They should be in a somewhat cooler location as well. That being said, you should expect some growth. I trim mine back once more prior to putting them back out in the spring.

I heard they don’t produce as much fruit the second year so people just start over again
Hey!! You can either let it be as it is if it’ll get sunlight throughout winter, or you can put it in a dark place with colder temperatures and cut off all of the leaves. I learned from Toni Farmer that to keep them dormant they should be kept more around 55-65 degrees F, with just some indirect light
