Kerby’s Koney Island reopens in Southfield: This neighborhood diner has been closed since June 2023 following a devastating fire. The restaurant reopened after a full renovation in August and is hosting a grand re-opening celebration this month. New menu offers steak-by-the-ounce at Savoy Detroit: Chef Melba Dearing has launched a new winter menu at her upscale neighborhood restaurant Savoy. The new menu has beef ribs, a Cajun-spiced seafood pot pie and steak by the ounce. Joe Louis Southern Kitchen plans third location: A popular spot for all-day breakfast and Southern comfort food, Joe Louis Southern Kitchen will open a third location this spring at 1528 Woodward in downtown Detroit. There are other locations on Woodward in Detroit’s New Center area and also one in Southfield. The restaurants are led by the boxer’s son, Joe Louis Barrow II, and restaurateur Johnny Cannon. Chef Brendon Edwards leaves Batch Brewing Company: After bringing chef-driven cuisine to this Corktown brewery, chef Edwards is moving on from Batch Brewing. “I’m proud of what we’ve built here, and I’ll keep cheering this place on,” he said on social media. He said he’ll continue working as a chef, doing private events and consulting. 

Three Scrooges Winter Ale returns at Griffin Claw Brewing Company: The yearly favorite, first released in 2013, is back.
