Oakland Thrive Restaurant Quest: Shish Palace in Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills

Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills, MI – Authentic Mediterranean food is a delight, and I was excited to try Shish Palace in Rochester Hills as part of my quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County. They’ve also got a location in Auburn Hills.

For lunch I had the chicken shawarma sandwich, with tender flavorful bites of char-broiled marinated chicken in a soft wrap with pickles and garlic sauce. I also had an order of house-made hummus served with fresh from the oven pita breads.

And for dinner I splurged on an amazing meal of lamb chops served on a bed of almond rice and a side of lentil soup. The lamb chops were expertly marinated and charbroiled so each bite was juicy and tasty. The almond rice is a unique alternative to the plain white rice given at many establishments, and the soup was a rich and healthy accompaniment.

To go with my order I also got a mango smoothie made with strawberries, banana, and honey.

Shish Palace has a strong selection of Mediterranean favorites, including spinach pie, falafel, lamb pies, spinach tawook salad, hummus and tabbouli wraps, grape leaves, shish kafta and much more. There is even a selection of seafood dishes that includes shish swordfish kabob, sauteed shrimp, and salmon ghallaba. And their selection of wraps – including smoked turkey, mjadara, falafel, and chicken creme chop – make it a great spot for a quick lunch or dinner.

Shish Palace is located at 165 Livernois in Rochester Hills (near Kroger), and 2751 University Drive in Auburn Hills in a plaza with a variety of dining options. I had my order to go from the Rochester Hills location, which also had tables available for dine in customers.
