FARGO — First responders will be collecting food and toys for families in need Saturday, Dec. 6, across North Dakota.

The annual First Responder Christmas Food and Toy Drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Walmart locations across the state.

In Fargo, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol and Fargo Police Department will collect items at the store off 55th Avenue South.

The drive brings in more than 3,000 items every year, with the Fargo community often showing a lot of generosity.

“We hear these stories, every year we’ve topped over 1,000 gifts donated and the school program tells me they all get used up and every family is extremely grateful,” said Highway Patrol Trooper Darin Malafa.

Walmart locations in Jamestown, Mandan, Bismarck and Williston will also have officers on-site.
