PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Tony’s Colonial Food announced that its founder Antonio ‘Tony’ DiCicco has died.
Officials said DiCicco passed away on Wednesday, surrounded by his loved ones.
DiCicco is a co-founder of the iconic Tony’s Colonial Food in Federal Hill.
According to family members, he moved from Italy to the U.S. when he was 19 years old.
“Working days, studying English at night, and pouring everything into his future, he turned a small deli on Federal Hill into something much greater. With pride in his roots, Tony brought the finest Italian products, traditions, and flavors from his homeland to Rhode Island, sharing a piece of Italy with the community he loved,” loved ones shared in a social media post.
DiCicco’s Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church.
