Soft opening still going on under the Belmont stop!
I got the "Popeye's Aint Sh!t" sandwich and fries.
Sandwich: This was already a great fried chicken sandwich, but the garlic sauce + sumac onions took it to another level. The southern flavors + slight middle-eastern flair was a combo I didn't know I needed. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and well seasoned (mild sauce was perfect if you want a hint of spice) and the pickles were nice and crunchy. Would order again to try different sauce spice levels.
Fries: picture is blurry but the fries are seasoned. Kind of like Five Guys Cajun fries, but toned down a bit. Smoky, salty, a little spicy, maybe even slightly sweet? Kind of like a light BBQ rub. I wish they were a tiny bit crispier, but I still inhaled them.
Staff was also very friendly; great hospitality (and music).
Overall rating 4.8/5, can't wait until they're fully open

I tried this in a food hall a couple years ago, I was disappointed but I have high expectations for hot chicken sandwiches. Hoping they locked in their recipe now that they’re expanding. I’ll check this out, thanks!
Is the chicken white meat or dark meat?
