Greece’s gastronomy continued its rise on the international stage this year, with four Greek restaurants securing a place among the world’s top 1,000 in the 2026 edition of La Liste, the influential French gastronomy ranking.

To mark its tenth anniversary, La Liste released its latest results based on an analysis of more than 1,100 global sources — including national and regional media, expert guides, and leading digital platforms featuring verified customer reviews. The methodology is regarded as one of the industry’s most comprehensive, blending professional assessments with broader public feedback.

Athens restaurants Delta, Spondi and Varoulko Seaside, along with Etrusco on Corfu, met La Liste’s strict scoring criteria, reaffirming the strength and diversity of Greece’s fine-dining scene among top establishments in Paris, New York, and Tokyo.

Delta was named “Best Restaurant in Greece” with a score of 86/100, reflecting its approach to modern Greek haute cuisine shaped by sustainability-focused techniques and thematic menus rooted in local tradition.

Spondi followed with 84.75/100, maintaining its long-standing reputation for refined French gastronomy in the Greek capital.

Varoulko Seaside in Piraeus earned recognition for its creative seafood-driven cuisine, while Etrusco’s debut on the list highlighted Corfu’s distinct culinary identity and the increasing visibility of regional Greek gastronomy.

This year’s ranking also signaled a more globally balanced fine-dining landscape.

For the first time, ten restaurants from eight countries share the No. 1 position – a notable shift reflecting widening international competition.

Among them are Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl (Switzerland), Da Vittorio (Italy), Guy Savoy (France), Le Bernardin (New York), and Lung King Heen (Japan).
