Went to mfk. last night and had a delightful experience!
Some highlights:
<Cantabrian Anchovies>: Salty, briny, picked. Might have to get into this tinned fish trend
<Croquetas de Pollo>: Hard to find a croquette I don’t like, but we immediately thought about putting in another order
<Fideos>: Great mussels and sauce, though shrimp was just fine
<Basque Cake>: Only one dessert on the menu but they do it well! Great sized portion to share
Would recommend for a cozy dinner! The best Spanish food I’ve had in Chicago (not that there are too many contenders)

I love MFK! One of the city’s hidden gems.
Didn’t realize tinned fish was trendy until I walked into Mariano’s a couple weeks ago and they have a huge, very nice display of tinned fish in their prepared foods area
Looks mfk good
I enjoyed my visit to mfk pre-covid a lot, haven’t made it back though. Have they changed chefs? Looks like it’s still good
We had one of our favorite meals at MFK last year. It’s such a wonderful spot.
As you wrote, mfk made me go out and buy some canned sardines. I had a Friday fish special (branzino), and it was amazing. I’ve been meaning to go back.
Got the basque cake for my 40th. We adore this place so much. I hope they keep doing their thing forever. We often do the whole fish for the main but also they’re not shy on the boquerones and tinned fish. Man I love this spot
That cake is so GD good!
Great spot! Need to get back there soon.
mfk. is pretty shit if I’m being honest
