I had dinner at Valhalla in Chicago and really enjoyed it overall. The place itself is beautiful, the kind of restaurant where you walk in and immediately pay attention to the space. The service was impeccable and genuinely warm, not the kind of overly formal vibe you sometimes get in fine dining. It felt welcoming from the start.

The food was very good and extremely generous in portion size. I had eaten a bit late earlier in the afternoon, so I was filling up faster than usual, which definitely influenced the experience. My favorite dishes were the pavlova, which is already kind of a signature there, and the soup with noodles and mussels. Both were really memorable in flavor and texture. The scallops were excellent as well, perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

By the end I was enjoying everything, but honestly I was a little too full to fully appreciate the last bites. Still, I loved the overall experience and would happily go back when I’m hungrier.
