Que the “first time” hanging memes.

Ah memories.  You never forget your first.

  2. crunchytacoboy

First job I got fired from was a serving job at a Korean bbq restaurant. I still remember the night vividly. I lasted 2 months but I genuinely think the owner just had it out for me. I’ve never been fired before or since and generally do a pretty good job wherever I go.

Sometimes it just can’t be avoided. I’m in IT now and never looking back!

  6. Seems like a nice guy but he couldn’t have done this in person or even over the phone? Since when are we cool with someone getting fired over text? Am I crazy?

  7. verseandvermouth

The fact that your chef is giving you a lead with a friend of his speaks volumes. Keep that chin up.

  8. PinchedTazerZ0

Best of luck chef! I’m sorry to hear that

  9. Mariuxpunk007

I’m sorry, but you are better off if the chef has no balls to look you in the eyes and tell you you are fired. That tells you what kind of people you were working for

  10. Hawkwise83

Can you text him back and tell him the internet says it’s to not too?

  11. RelevantTrash9745

Was fired from my first job ever at some bullshit pizzeria with a fruit fly infestation. Still was sore. Things will improve, chef. You met a great sounding fella there

  12. Getting shit canned over text is a little fuckin weak right?

  13. ranting_chef

It sucks, but you’ll get over it. On to bigger and better things.

  14. Brilliant_Buns

That sucks man. Maybe the universe is opening new doors for you. Keep on doing you and it’ll come right. Sending positive vibes your way

High end to family joints doesn’t work well.

  16. Sissy_Ellie_May

Fuck a family restaurant. You’ll never be treated properly; you’re always the person they hired from outside the family.

  17. Timewasted_Gamez

I don’t know who Tim is but f**k Tim.

  18. Spiritual-Leader9985

This mf replied did I do something wrong

  19. HighwayBrilliant

“Hey buddy” what a wild way to start that text but at least he’s offering up a connection. Hope you find a better job soon.

  20. Turbulent_Tackle8834

That’s the nicest firing ever. And he told you about unemployment. And set you up with another employer.

  21. CrocsWearingMFer

Based on the fact that “Chef Will” doesn’t know the difference between “to” and “too”, fuck him too

  22. KoontFace

Seems you got fired through no fault of yours and your manager clearly thinks it’s shitty too.

I wouldn’t give it a second thought, the fact your colleague is happy and you willing to recommend you elsewhere says a lot more about you than getting “fired”

  23. LetsTalkAboutGuns

Plot twist: this is the hiring process for The Valley Bud.

  24. chefbobbym

I’ll bet the owners out of money and can’t pay you anymore.

  25. slammed_stem1

Tim can’t chop chives worth shit. Fuck that guy

  26. Dragon_Within

You didn’t get fired, you got let go. Fired usually implies you did something that precipitated your departure. Being let go, laid off, released from your job, etc, implies that it was through no fault of your own, and it was a business decision (which in this case it is).

Judging by your information, sounds like you were a chef. I’d say something like “The person creating the menu and myself had different ideas on the direction of the food, and they decided to go with someone else for my position. I left on good terms, and was given a few references as well as an opportunity to speak to a few other chefs in the area that (name of person) set me up with. While I’m a little let down that I won’t be able to show them my full potential, I am excited at the new opportunities working at (name of place you are interviewing at) can afford me.”

I know it seems like splitting hairs, but optics is everything. How someone perceives something is usually a lot more relevant than the actual thing, so making sure to use a better way of saying it to possible employers and when you describe it, is a must, even if you have to practice doing it.

If the separation is not your fault, absolutely file for unemployment. If the resteraunt tries to fight it on some made up “performance issues” BS, then make them provide records of write-ups and corrective actions (performance improvement plans, etc.) of alleged performance issues. However, you will need to have worked there for a minimum amount of time depending on your state, usually about a year.

As someone who has had to let people go thia guy thought you were good at your job and liked your personality. The fact that he gave you what seems like a fs lead on a job tells me this wasnt his call at all. It sucks made me quit being in leadership postions. Onto better things friend!

  29. Fired by someone who doesn’t know the difference of too and to.
