Hey folks, U.S. BBQ lovers especially — I’m planning to grab the Weber Spirit E-310 for my backyard.
How does it perform? Good heat? Easy to clean? Any long-term problems?

I also came across this site for Weber replacement parts:

Would love to hear your experience!

  1. Define what you mean by “BBQ”.

By the most specific/”cynical” definition, the Weber Spirit E-310 is a grill. Not a “BBQ” (low and slow cooks using smoke to flavor the food). It’s intended purpose is for hot and fast cooks such as burgers, chicken, steaks, grilled veg, etc.

If you’re wanting to do smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork, stuff like that – it can be done, but it’s not really efficient (takes a lot of gas) and you have to keep a close-ish eye on it (low heat levels mean small flames which can more easily be blown out). And you need a separate smoke source.

Find a used Genesis that was made in the early 2000’s. Way better than a new Spirit.

I’ve had two in the past 25 years – the original was listed as a Spirit 300. They’ve been very good performers over the years. Very good heat, and easy to maintain and clean. The stainless burners have great warranties (10 years) – be sure to register yours on the Weber site so they can keep track of your in service date.

The original flavor bars will rust out after 3-5 years, depending on your climate (I’m in the SE). When they rust, be sure to pay extra and upgrade to the SS. Make sure to keep it clean (i use a cheap plastic paint scraper from the dollar store and a good brush. The drip pans are cheap ($5 for 10 at Lowe’s). The start button will last about 2-3 years and is easily replaced for about $50.

The only reason I replaced mine is because the original was left at the house with the ex when I got divorced – apartments wouldn’t take it. Got a 310 as soon as i got a spot where I can have a grill.

In car terms, they’re like Honda Accords. They just work.
