Me and my buddies at 17-20 years old at a High End Steak House. Still the most fun place I have ever worked.

If the food was good, the food was good. Little Pedro deserves the respect. π€

We don’t even know if his name is Pedro. He just showed up one day and started washing dishes so we gave him a nametag we had lying around.

Idgaf if he’s 16 or 89yo crackhead. If the food is good, I compliment the chef.

If Little Pedro made my picky autistic kid happy with fried cod and a couple poached eggs on the side Little Pedro deserves that compliment to the chef.

Sounds like a chef to me

Yeah, I used to tell the other line cook that when he’d get a complement. He’d just grin. Bastard was always dropping acid before the rush…

Our Pedro was named Ishmael and he was a prep gangster and worked salad station on Sundays. He was a delight to work with. Always happy and absolutely obsessed with the playboy channel. I always loved asking him what he was doing after work as his answer was consistently βGo home, take a shower, watch playboy channelβ
All it takes to make good food is to give a shit, the speed and skill will come over time, but age has nothing to do with it, I was cooking dinners by 10 years old, you just have to want to do it and do it well.

I only comment when it warrants it, I’m either specific, “tell whoever grilled this salmon that it’s perfect”, or “let BOH know that my meal was A+”. Never mention Pedro by name, or the chef.
Bannedwith1milKarma
That’s even more kudos to the Chef then.

Iβll keep saying it until Iβm blue in the face but it doesnβt matter how old you are, how much experience or education you have, if you are the one running the kitchen, you ARE Chef
