Brimming with heart-boosting omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, salmon ranks among the healthiest fish you can incorporate into your diet. Whether served simply alongside vegetables or incorporated into a traybake or fish pie, it’s incredibly versatile, reports the Express.

Yet for some, salmon remains firmly off the menu due to its distinctive smell and taste. Addressing this common concern, Italian food blogger Maria Vannelli has shared a fool-proof salmon recipe on She Loves Biscotti that promises “no fishy taste”.

She explained: “There is no fishy taste with this soy maple-glazed salmon recipe, thanks to the wonderful combination of maple syrup, soy sauce, and garlic. It is guaranteed to convert even the pickiest fish eaters. You have to taste it to believe it.”

For those seeking a salmon dish that’s both mild in flavour and straightforward to prepare, this recipe ticks all the boxes. The key lies in briefly marinating the fish in a robust, flavourful mixture.

Maria noted: “You will be amazed at how this small investment of time and just a few simple ingredients can improve the overall taste of your salmon.

“Maple syrup, soy sauce, and garlic come together to give this maple-glazed salmon incredible flavour.”

Ingredients (serves four)

Four salmon fillets, rinsed and driedA third of a cup of maple syrupThree tablespoons of soy sauceOne to two tablespoons of sesame oilFour to five garlic clovesOne teaspoon of ginger, gratedBlack pepper, to taste

Method

Begin by rinsing and patting the salmon fillets dry, then arrange them in a single layer in a shallow glass baking dish.

In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic cloves, freshly grated ginger, and black pepper, whisking thoroughly. There’s no need for salt in this recipe, as the soy sauce provides all the savoury kick you’ll need.

Slather the marinade onto the salmon fillets, making sure to coat both sides. Begin with the skin side up.

Wrap it up in clingfilm and pop it into the fridge for half an hour, flipping the fillets a couple of times.

As the 30 minutes draw to a close, crank your oven up to 200C/180Fan/Gas Mark 6. Move the salmon, sans marinade, to a baking dish lined with parchment paper and bake for roughly 15 minutes.

The exact timing will hinge on the thickness of your fillets.

While your salmon is getting golden in the oven, pour the marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil and let it bubble away for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

Once you’ve taken your salmon out of the oven, brush this sticky maple syrup glaze over the top.
