SETTLE area vicar, Rev Julie Clarkson and Big Ted met staff and children from Freda’s playgroup and Nursery recently at Holy Ascension, Settle Parish Church, as they delivered their generous collection of foodstuffs for Settle’s Food Bank – Settle Pantry.
Church leaders have given their thanks to all the parents who supported the reverse Advent Calendar idea, and say the gifts will be used to fill Christmas hampers for foodbank clients.
There was also a good showing in the church on the first Saturday in December – despite heavy rain – for the monthly breakfasts and bacon butties morning. The new Lowther Lounge area of the church was buzzing with the chatter of families and friends both locals and visitors, enjoying a pre Christmas treat. The next bacon butties event is due to take place on Saturday, January 3.
