Driving in marked lanes, drunk driving, open containers: Liberty Road

A patrol officer came upon a Jeep stopped in the middle of Solon Road near South Chagrin Reservation’s Quarry Rock picnic area around 3:15 a.m. Dec. 11 and started following once the driver resumed — in an erratic manner.

Police noted the driver, later identified as a Solon woman, 44, first went left of center while westbound on Solon Road, then turned into a driveway near Chagrin River Road.

She backed out and continued at a high rate of speed, striking the curb while turning onto Liberty Road and going left of center again before police stopped her.

She then asked police why they were following her. She denied having anything to drink, saying she drove over the curb because she was scared.

Officers noticed what turned out to be red wine in her Stanley travel cup and soon found a half bottle of tequila under the driver’s seat.

She then told police to just give her a ticket, adding that she had not had that much to drink.

At the Solon jail she registered a .116 and a .123 blood-alcohol content (BAC) on the breath test, over the legal limit of .08 BAC — although she was also marked at some point as a Breathalyzer “refusal.”

Police said sober driver came later to pick her up after the Jeep was towed and she was given a court date.

Speeding (21 mph or more over the posted limits): Solon Road

A Chagrin Falls woman faced a mandatory appearance in Bedford Municipal court after a patrol officer stopped her at 4:45 p.m. Nov. 17 for going 56 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Asked if they had the right car locked in on radar, police said hers was the only one on the road traveling westbound at that time.
