Bet it worked great, makes me wonder why medical thermometers aren’t instant read thermometers. I’ve had thermometers take over a minute to get a reading.

Just be careful of the rectal thermometer when you have that kid. (Trust me the best way to take a young kids temp is rectally). I wrote with sharpie on ours to know which was which. Ha!

Always remember to temp your meat in more than 1 spot. You get a more accurate picture that way.

I guess I will be that person – oral thermometers are designed to be accurate within the range of human body temperatures. So, 90-105F. Alternatively, meat thermometers are designed to cover the wide range of cooking temperatures. You shouldn’t expect that thermapen to be accurate/repeatable to better than +/- 1-3 degrees.

Get an in ear Braun thermometer. You will need that for the kid. Don’t buy the cheap Amazon versions, they are highly inaccurate. (Yes I understand the fun in the post, once the kid comes you will wish you had one)
