The FDA has recalled a Boar’s Head cheese product due to the potential presence of listeria.
The Ambriola Company, an importer and distributor of specialty Italian cheese, issued the recall for two products they produced under the Boar’s Head brand:
Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese FS Grated Romano Cheese after they found potential
Out of caution, Boar’s Head also made the decision to withdraw all products that the Ambriola Company produces for the Boar’s Head brand. This decision includes to-go food items that have the potentially affected cheeses inside:
EverRoast Chicken Caesar Salad with best by dates between Nov. 9 and 22EverRoast Chicken Caesar Wrap with best by dates between Nov. 9 and 22
The FDA alert said there have been no reported illnesses or complaints for these items.
Consumers should throw the product away immediately. Those with questions or concerns should contact their physician.
This recent incident is not the first time the Boar’s Head brand has been linked to a listeria outbreak.
In September 2024, the brand closed its Virginia plant that produced deli meats due to a listeria outbreak that killed nine people and hospitalized 57 others in 18 states.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service reports from the Boar’s Head facility in Jarratt, Virginia, described insects, mold, “blood in puddles on the floor” and a “rancid smell in the cooler” at various points since 2022.
Federal inspectors have since assumed direct oversight of the plant if and when it reopens, U.S. Agriculture Department officials said.
