Gloves are probably a really good idea. I used Barkeeper’s Friend to remove water deposits from a pet’s water bowl. It worked like a charm removing the deposits … and two days later, the top layer of skin from my hands.

PSA that nitrile gloves are not immune to strong corosives. I’ve seen carbon off bubble away and ultimately through a pair of heavy duty nitriles, so it will provide some protection, but best to change them as soon as possible, I know most places Ive worked don’t have a pair of chemical rated gloves around.
