LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular ice cream shop in southern Indiana is looking for a new owner.

The Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery in Clarksville, Indiana current owner Jill Dodson posted on social media Saturday, saying she’s looking for the right buyer and that it’s “the end of my era.”

“But the time has come, to pass the torch, to another lucky soul; to continue the legacy of Widow’s, and another dream to behold,” Dodson said in a video posted on YouTube.

The shop has been around for nearly 27 years, with Dodson owning it for the past 10 years. In the post, Dodson addressed her desire to want to sell the shop in 2023, but then the Town of Clarksville announced the major road construction project that was to occur right in front of her business. Dodson said she didn’t want to “pass that burden on to a new owner” after the announcement.

That road construction closed the ice cream shop for the entire 2024 season. Dodson said she “decided to stick around at least one more season,” and that season has now come to an end, something that she said would not have been possible without her customers.

“I am again at that point in my life…ready to retire,” the post said.

Dodson said finding the right buyer will take time and will still be serving up sweet treats in the meantime.
