I’m not all that experience with Burgundy either, but it being Grand Cru Burg and you already saying it tasted amazing, I’d bet it’s a great gift for any wine lover.

I don’t know the producer but it is a top vineyard and a good vintage now nicely mature. Will go down a storm, just don’t use it for the dish x

I wouldn’t use that to make the coq au vin! s/

As long as this is the accompaniment to the meal and not used to make it, this is a great choice

Burgundy is the classic wine pairing for coq au vin. You want something that will stand up to the roasted veggies and lardon, but you don’t want to completely overpower the flavors of the braise and the chicken/pheasant. I’d say you’ve made an excellent choice.

I don’t know the producer but I’d say your boyfriend is a very lucky man!

I’ve actually been to this vineyard. Small producer, but really solid. I would completely stoked to get this bottle.

    Great choice.

I had one of the D’Ardhuy Cortons from 2005. It was good, but not necessarily Grand Cru level compared to some other producers. That said, it will go very well with Coq au Vin. I would recommend opening it up, pour a small taste to make sure it is good and then let it slowly oxygenate (“slow ox”) in the bottle for at least 4 hours and let it breathe. Sounds like a great meal – enjoy!

Hello I drank several bottles from this producer (Savigny les Beaune 1er cru, Ladoix 1er cru, Corton Renardes) all between 2005 (Corton Renardes) and 2019 (Savigny 1er cru Aux Clous) and I had a blast each time ! Very good producer .
This will pair perfectly with the coq au vin. Maybe I can suggest some Pâté en Croûte for appetizer it will pair nicely with this as well!
    Enjoy the moment, cheers!

  10. Ardhuy is solid if you want a decent burg that doesn’t break the bank. I’ve not had this bottling but you should enjoy it with the coq au vin for sure!

It’s so refreshing to see people come to this sub with a question and the response is “Yes, you are correct!!!” rather than “Oh, noooooooooooooo. Whyyyyyy??”

    Good job! Enjoy dinner!

Can never go wrong with Grand Cru. Was it pretty spendy?
