Last time I tried to make an English breakfast here in Poland I went for things which were sort of kind of close to the originals and was a little dismayed.

This time I threw caution to the wind and went full local. Mother in law made the placki ziemnaki. I did the rest. Was pretty good.

The placki ziemnaki look good. What is top left in the picture ? Do you have a picture of the sausage insides ?

  3. Oh and a bot has asked me to post the recipe…. I mean recipe? Anyway.

Kaszanka with apple and red onion 3:2:1 ratio, everything chopped to the size of the kasza in the kaszanka, baked maybe 2 hrs quite low, 100C maybe.

Mushroom, mix of little teeny ones and halved larger, chucked in frying pan on mid with a ton of butter , msg, salt and pepper and let it fry til the mushroom water was gone. Maybe half an hour. Then dumped on the tomatoes.

Tomatoes, halved, msged and under the grill skin up for a bit then flipped and blowtorched.

The kielbasa is a new one for me, have to admit I forgot to take a photo of it – I think it might be an in house one, wedzone and large fat chunks in it. Low fried with a tablespoon of water, lid on (my new idea for slow cooked sausage to render the fat well – it worked).

Bacon is from a local guy about 3mm thick, lightly grilled with the tomatoes and mushrooms underneath to catch the fat. I’m not a fan of uber crispy bacon and I am not sure you could do it with Polish bacon anyway.

Beans are actually heinz ahahahaha the one thing I didn’t go local. Some of the bacon before frying I lopped off the ends and gentle fry in a pot (not a frypan) then dumped the beans on top with all the pepper and some msg.

Egg just fried in some left over bacon. No one else wanted one so that was easy.

Placki I have no idea as that wasn’t my job 🙂
