Toronto is a haven for food. But these Toronto restaurants were recently recognized as some of the top Italian spots on the globe.

On Dec. 15, 50 Top Italy unveiled its 2026 list of the best Italian restaurants in the world, and two Toronto establishments made the cut.

“It would have been unthinkable 20 years ago to find such quality in restaurants that serve Italian food outside of our borders,” said Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere, the guide’s three curators.

“In the last 10 years, our gastronomic culture has literally conquered the world, with numerous venues making their mark across the five continents.”

Culinary destinations in Toronto have certainly cemented their status. Here’s a look at the restaurants in the city that were honoured in 50 Top Italy’s ranking.

DaNico

Third place went to DaNico, located inside of a former bank building at 440 College St. in Toronto’s Palmerston-Little Italy neighbourhood.

Here, diners will find Michelin-starred chef and partner Daniele Corona in the kitchen, cooking up Italian food with a global influence.

“Proud of my team, grateful to our guests, inspired every day by this journey. Toronto keeps pushing us forward, a city in constant evolution, just like our cuisine,” Corona said in response to the 50 Top Italy honour.

This spot is part of Liberty Entertainment Group, also known for Blueblood Steakhouse and Cibo Wine Bar.

Acknowledging the recent 50 Top Italy recognition, the team at Liberty Entertainment Group said: “To be included and ranked so highly among Italy’s most celebrated dining rooms is a true distinction.”

DaNico opened in September 2023 as a collaboration between Corona, hospitality entrepreneur Nick Di Donato of Liberty Entertainment Group, and multi-starred chef Ernesto laccarino of Don Alfonso 1890 Group.

Originally from Naples, Corona previously led Don Alfonso 1890, and later DaNico in 2024 and 2025 to earn a coveted Michelin star. He has also been recognized as Chef of the Year by 50 Top Italy.

Plus, DaNico was honoured in November at the 2025 World Luxury Restaurant Awards.

Earlier this summer while Coldplay was in town, the band’s bass player, Guy Berryman, was spotted dining at DaNico.

Don Alfonso 1890

In 13th place is Liberty Entertainment Group’s Don Alfonso 1890. And like DaNico, this Michelin-starred spot is no stranger to culinary accomplishments.

Last month in November, it was named as one of the top 100 restaurants in Canada.

According to Liberty Entertainment Group, Don Alfonso’s latest recognition “reflects the passion, craftsmanship, and dedication of our extraordinary teams, and we are deeply grateful to our guests whose support makes moments like this possible.

“The 50 Top Italy awards are regarded as one of the leading benchmarks for Italian gastronomy, honouring restaurants that excel not only in cuisine, but in authenticity, hospitality, and the overall dining experience.”

The restaurant sits 38 floors up Toronto’s iconic Westin Harbour Castle, located on the edge of Lake Ontario at 1 Harbour Square.

It’s also the only North American location of world renowned Michelin star chefs Ernesto and Alfonso laccarino’s Don Alfonso 1890.

So, if you’re looking for a new Italian spot in Toronto to try out, maybe one of these restaurants will help satiate .
